End of life matters
“Talking about his own mortality, at one level, was certainly about enabling those close to him, to make peace with the fact that he would not alwas be around. He was helping them. Using, if you like, a discipline of generosity. But on another level, he was also demonstrating a lifetimeof befriending the death that is always a part of life. And into his nineties he had honed this ancient human discipline. One of the hardest of all.”
I know this to be true, Nelson Mandela, guiding principles
Thoughts about the end of life are overwhelming, especially when we have no-one to share them with; yet when spoken they become the first steps towards acceptance and transformation.
Epilogue Café is safe space for the community members to share their thoughts and feelings about the end of life matters. Everyone is welcomed.

Dying to be born
Can we understand death by understanding birth?
Our birth and our death are two events that start and end our earthly incarnation. During and just after the birth we’re usually surrounded by loving parents and family. Yet what is happening during our dying and death?
Lakshmi will share her deep understanding of birth and death from an Anthroposophical perspective. She will speak on the mysteries before and during birth and what mysteries are in front of us when we’re dying or witnessing the process of dying and death – and the big question, what takes place just after death?
Lakshmi in her work in India around birth has been deeply involved in the arenas of birth and death. It is through her professional and very personal interest in this subject that has led her to being able to reintroduce participants to a renewed reverence for life and death as she focusses on the beginning and the completion of our physical lives.

Honouring Our Dead Celebration
In Europe and many countries in the world, families and friends gather in November to celebrate and share the memories of their loved ones. In some cultures people visit the places of burials, while in others long festival activities are hold.
Honouring Our Dead is a community celebration remembering those we love who have died. This year on the 1 November community members are invited to gather to acknowledge and share the memories of their ancestors and loved ones.
During special ceremony everyone will have an opportunity to share the name of their loved ones with all community members. We will decorate a Memory Tree with photos and drawings, wishes and poems, as well as flowers and plants. We will celebrate and honour those whose lives were part our lives. We will grow through shared love and reverence.

The Mysteries of Birth and Death Workshop
THiS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. It will be offered in the future. Please stay in contact about the dates.
Can we understand death by understanding birth?
Our birth and our death are two events that start and end our earthly incarnation. During and just after the birth we’re usually surrounded by loving parents and family yet what is happening during our dying and death? What takes place after death from a spiritual point of view?
We have almost lost the language of death and the connection to the wisdom of how to be and cope with death and dying. Deeply within we sense it does not have to be this way, we know that we can create a new culture in which every community member knows what to do when death comes.
Dr Lakshmi will share her deep understanding of birth and death from an Anthroposophical perspective. She will speak on the mysteries before and during birth and what mysteries are in front of us when we’re dying or witnessing the process of dying and death.
Cost: AUD 55
